according to the new yorker, "interior design as a profession was invented by elsie de wolfe" and she called herself a "rebel in an ugly world." she mixed color, pattern and antiques in a way that thumbed its nose at old school stuffy interiors. she famously said "i am going to make everything around me beautiful—that will be my life" and it pretty much sums up about how i feel about my place in this world. she's the perfect person to inspire a vignettes scarf. i truly believe that a well designed home is a mix of fancy high/and humble low, full of color and texture, with both antiques with touches of modern, has a sense of humor and feels like a warm hug from a dear friend.
